My American Dream
They say business isn’t personal, but in my case, it is (in the best way possible!). A bit about me—I started my brokerage business because I wanted to share my passion for family and the freedom I’ve found through real estate. If you want to know how I got started, read on my friend.
I should probably say this right off the bat. I am going to keep it real with you. Kindness is my jam, but honesty is a must. I am here, working on mastering both. Before I digress too far off the path, let’s get back to it.
My real estate journey stared out of very selfish reasons. In 2013 I was a young mom to a 2-year-old, 4-year-old, and a 5-year-old boys. Busy was my middle name. At the end of the day no matter how tired I was from my action-packed days caring for my boys, when I closed my eyes I felt something was missing.
My parents are first-generation immigrants, shoot so am I. They instilled in me a hard work ethic and a sense of independence. “Never depend on a man!” was drilled into the bright heads of myself and my sister from an early age. Making the decision to do the at stay home mommy thing, rattled my sense of independence, and challenged me to evaluate my core values. While I’ll never regret the 5 years of nurturing my babies and spending those crucial development years with them, I always knew that one day I want to have a thriving career.
As a busy mom, I didn’t know how to make that happen. Working 50-60 Hrs a week, for a company in corporate America was not an option for me. (Remind me to tell you the story of my one and only, mommy-job interview in the corporate world. Life lessons on steroids).
I’ve always believed the universe has our back. At the time I didn’t know what to do, or how to go about starting a career, or a business, that would allow me to still be a primary caretaker of my boys. What I did know is that you can’t miss out on anything that is made for you. AND If you stay open to receiving the right opportunity will find you.
So one random Wednesday when the opportunity came knocking, I was ready. Hubby came home with tickets to a 2-day real estate investment seminar. He always had the real estate bug, and he was going to this thing no matter what. I could go, if I could find child care.
Let me tell you, friend, childcare for 3 mini monsters for two whole days seamed like a monumental task. We were living in a new city, had zero friends, a few acquaintances, a strict budget and no family to tap into. Life lesson X, when you are short on resources, you better be full of resourcefulness. In less than 48hrs, I interviewed child care providers, found the one I felt a connection to. With a bucket full of trust into something completely intangible at the time, I took the most giant leap of faith in my life.
For two days, my mind was blown. A necessary mindset shift had begone to take place inside of me. I learned a lot about real estate and real estate investing. Most of all, I learned this was just a small bite, the tip of the iceberg. What lit the fire in my heart, and made me want to pursue building a real estate business was learning that people need help. I could be the helping hand if I take action and become an expert in this field. As you move through your life, you don’t have the time or the resources, to learn everything you need to know about:
Buying a home,
Selling a home,
Investing in homes,
Building wealth,
Building independence, and freedom.
So I’ve done it for you. Over the last 7 years I’ve invested my time in learning and becoming an expert in residential real estate. I’ve invested in 100’s of homes, closed 100’s of transactions, and I continue to learn and grow in this field.
While there have been ups and many downs. One thing remains the same. I love helping people, and real estate is my special helping tool.
